Abstract
Think Twice
is a graphic novel that features stories about different interpersonal situations where a false assumption is made. These stories are inspired by actual events told in interviews with family members, peers, and news articles. My research goal is to understand the psychological reason why one makes assumptions. Most of the time, they are made without a second thought given, which often leads to negative consequences and a lasting impact on one’s life. The primary audience for this project will be teens, ages 13 to 19, in the northeast region of the United States because it's the age range where their brains are ready to learn and adapt to their environment. To promote the graphic novel, I’ve created bookmarks, pins, a website, an Instagram account, and a 48-second promotional video.
Graphic Novel
Think Twice is a hardcover 5.5 x 8.5-inch graphic novel that contains five chapters with different situations where a false assumption is made in everyday life leading to consequences after they are made. There is a different set of characters for each chapter.
Promotional Video

Graphic Novel Storyboard
This storyboard features every page and chapter breakdown from the graphic novel, Think Twice. Chapter 1 is about a store clerk who learns the hard way that you can’t judge a book by its cover. Chapter 2 is about a young woman who gets shamed on the bus by two presumptuous older women who assume she is a teenage mother. Chapter 3 is about a minority doctor who faces discrimination from a taxi driver and learns that we are all connected in the most unexpected ways. Chapter 4 is about a woman’s racial bias regarding her property, leading to a surprising confrontation. Chapter 5 is about a woman’s derogatory remarks that lead to an embarrassing encounter on the subway.

Character Designs
The characters were first sketched out with paper and pencil and then generated using a painting software called FireAlpaca, which allowed for organic lines to mirror the strokes of traditional drawing tools such as pen, pencil, and paint.
Website
The Think Twice website promotes the graphic novel and educates users about assumptions. It also features a promotional video, which advertises the graphic novel’s launch and invites interested audience members to purchase the book.
